Instructions : 1. Make a vertical base card 5 ½”x 4 ¼” from off-white cardstock. Cut ½” off the right side of the front of the card. Open the card and pounce the X-Static bag over the area exposed from the cut (right side on the inside of the card). Using a regular black pen, draw a straight vertical line a tad wider than ½”, cover it with Dark Night embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set the line.
    2. Cut a piece of the light orangey rust paper a little larger than the card front. Use the rubber cement applicator to apply glue to the back of the paper and quickly position it on the front of the card with one side of the paper exactly lined up with the left side fold of the card. After it is positioned, immediately put a heavy book on it for about one to two minutes. (Don’t worry about any of the other surfaces; rubber cement can be easily rubbed off with a rubber cement eraser or your finger and it won’t leave a mark like other glues.) Now open the card, make sure the paper is well glued to the front and rub off any excess glue on the inside of the card and the back of the exposed specialty paper. Turn the card upside down and cut the excess paper away from the other three sides. If there are gaps between the front of the card and the paper, use a toothpick to slide some rubber cement into them, hold the two surfaces together and when dry, rub off the excess glue.
    3. Open the card and using a small paintbrush, apply Sparkle N Sprinkle Brushable glue about an inch at a time to the area between the drawn line and the right edge of the card. After each area is covered with glue, pour Sunset glitter over it and tap off the excess. Keep the card open and set it aside to dry for awhile; later you can touch up the bare spots.
    4. Using the VersaMark inkpad and Dark Night embossing powder, stamp and emboss the PITCHFORK SCARECROW image & HAPPY FALL Y’ALL saying on off-white cardstock pieces.
    5. Color the image by scribbling markers on an acrylic piece or old CD and picking up the color with a small damp paintbrush. Use gel pens when necessary. Set aside to dry.
    6. By now the glue on the card should be dry, so touch up the bare spots and set it aside.
    7. Hold a large metal brad between your fingers and use a small paintbrush to paint/dab the head and its edges with Sparkle N Sprinkle Brushable glue. Hold it over a piece of scrap paper and pour sunset glitter on the glue, replace your fingers with a needle nosed pliers and insert the prongs vertically into a piece of white packing Styrofoam. Repeat the same procedure on the other three large brads. Put the Styrofoam aside for the glue to dry. Later give the brads a second coat of glue and glitter.
    9. Cut the image into a rectangle shape as shown on the sample card. Paint in imaginary dirt on each side at the bottom. Using the foam eye shadow applicator and the two chalks, make a background around the image. Spray the front of it with at least two coats of fixative. Set aside to dry.
    10. Cut a piece of dark rust cardstock 2 ¾”x 3 ¾”.
    11. Using the deckle decorative scissors cut around the embossed saying. Cut a piece of dark rust cardstock to fit behind it. Glue the saying to it using rubber cement and rub off the excess glue.
    12. On the backside of the front of the card, start applying the thin rust self-stick strand of crocheted cotton about ¼” from the card fold. Run it around the card front vertically until the two ends meet and cut it off evenly.
    13. After the glue and glitter on the card is dry, run a dark orange permanent marker across the thin edge on the right side of the card to cover up the off-white color of the cardstock.
    13. Make sure that the image will fit on the rust layering piece and still have enough room for the four glittered brads. If not, cut more off on image’s top. With a pencil, mark where the holes for the brads should be, use the hole punch and insert the dry brads. Use regular scotch tape to hold the prongs down on the backside. Attach the image as shown with double stick adhesive tape and a craft mini glue dot in each corner.
    12. Attach the saying piece above it with double stick foam adhesive tape. Decorate or write inside as desired.
