1. Make a vertical base card 6 ˝”x 5” from medium turquoise cardstock.
2. Cut a layering piece a little smaller than the front of the card from mint green cardstock. Attach the green one to the front of the card with double stick adhesive tape. Set aside.
3. Cut a top-layering piece slightly smaller than the mint green layer.
4. Pounce the X-Static anti-static bag over the white layer. Using the VersaMark inkpad and Blue Spruce embossing powder, stamp and emboss the HEART BUTTERFLY-LG image twice as shown on the sample card.
5. Using the Quickie Sakura glue pen, apply glue to the body of each butterfly, sprinkle Black Ice glitter over the area and tap off the excess. Then apply glue to small areas of the white inside the top butterfly, sprinkle Aquamarine glitter on it and tap off the excess. Do the same procedure to the bottom butterfly, but use Waterfall glitter. Set it aside to dry completely.
6. Hold a large metal brad between your fingers and use a small paintbrush to paint/dab the head and its edges with Sparkle N Sprinkle Brushable glue. Hold it over a piece of scrap paper and pour Aquamarine glitter over the glue. Shake it a little to get some of the excess glitter off, replace your fingers with a needle nosed pliers and insert the prongs into a piece of white packing Styrofoam so it is vertical. Repeat the same procedure on another large brad.
7. Use the same procedure on two more large brads, but use Waterfall glitter. Set the Styrofoam aside for the glue to dry. Give them all a second coat after they are completely dry. NOTE: Don’t try dipping the heads into the glue; you will end up with too much glue on the brad and it will dry “gloppy”.
8. After the glitter on the butterflies is dry, use a small piece of porous sponge or stipple brush to pounce turquoise pigment ink over all the remaining white area on the top layering piece.
9. After the ink is dry, attach the two clear stickers (“remember” & “kindness”) to the piece as shown.
10. After the four brads have had a second coat of glitter and are perfectly dry, attach them to the butterfly layer (two aquamarine green ones on the right and the two Waterfall ones on the left) as shown. Note: I used a hole punch.
11. Attach a small turquoise bow between the two butterflies using mini glue dots.
12. Attach the butterfly layer to the front of the card with double stick adhesive tape. |
